The carmometer hit 114F yesterday afternoon on the way home from Bitty's second viewing of Cars. We then all hit the pool trying to escape the heat... which has only just begun here in the desert southwest.
Bitty is currently on a quest to collect all the CARS from McDonald's Happy Meals. So far Bitty has Mater, Sally and Ramone (the green Ramone, not to be confused with the purple or yellow Ramones).
If you've got a craving for some fries and a shake, you'd make Bitty very happy if you could ask for a CAR with your order! (Most McDonald's will sell individual CARS for $1.50 with any purchase.)
To make up for my lack of posts, I've added a new game to the sidebar ~ Hangman. Now you, the loyal Bittyman reader, will have something to do when I don't update as often as I should.

This week we're celebrating 3 years of home ownership by finally painting the stairway and upstairs hallway. All that we have left to paint is the master bedroom and the entire house will be worthy of HGTV. (Design on a Dime anyway!) Then again, the first room we painted when we moved in was the nursery - and since we didn't find out Bitty's sex, we went with the gender neutral 'stars & moon' theme. Bitty recently noticed a very cool 'racing car' room in my Pottery Barn catalog so I think there will be another room makeover in the very near future.
We packed up the minivan and headed up to the mountains for a few days so Bitty could finally experience snow! He proclaimed it 'slippery' and 'cold'. But he did enjoy making snowballs and playing 'snowplow guy' with his trucks.
Bitty loved our cabin because it had a fireplace, jacuzzi tub and a DVD player so he could watch 'The Land Before Time' for the umpteenth time.

For today's art project Mama broke out the water colors. (Daddy, your beat up old blue t-shirt is now a smock - hope you don't mind!) Bitty painted a beautiful pastel picture of a... dinosaur. He then finished his work with various Easter stickers. We're sending the picture to Aunt Mary in Italy for an Easter present.
Bitty LOVES art projects. Which is a challenge for Mama who is anything but artsy. (Painting a wall? No problem. Painting a picture? Forget about it.)
So if you're looking for some birthday gift ideas (the big '3' will be here before we all know it), craft supplies are a sure bet. Paints, crayons, markers, stickers, coloring books, play-doh - Bitty works in every medium!
Thanks to Tivo, which records suggested television shows based on what shows you have recorded in the past, we've discovered a great new children's program on Nick, Jr.: The Wonder Pets. Bitty, literally, applauded the first episode.
Not that Bitty is allowed to watch much television - 'cause that would be a sign of bad parenting - but on holidays, rainy days, and days that end with a 'y' these are some of Bitty's favorites:

If you're not familiar with these programs (i.e. do not have a child under the age of 5), the common elements to these programs are 1) music and 2) animals. We predict Bitty will be a singing veterinarian.
Bitty sure has been busy this past week. First, Grandpa Ellis came to visit (and work a trade show). Bitty loved playing with Grandpa and learning a lot of new phrases like, "Ooopsey, doopsey, doodle!"
The weather was gorgeous last weekend so we spent the day at a local park and spent time feeding the ducks.
Then Bitty, in his usual helpful self, helped Mama clean his room so Mama & Daddy's friend, Kerry, could stay there during her visit from England. Bitty had a 'lovely' time with his now proclaimed girlfriend, Miss Kerry.
Finally, Bitty was sooo excited to 'get ashed!' at Mass yesterday. Bitty has decided to give up peas and cooked carrots for Lent.
Mama came down with the flu on Valentines Day so I haven't had the energy for blogging. Here are some pictures from our trip to Chuck E Cheese last Saturday. (Note to self: NEVER go to a germ pit like Chuck E Cheese during flu season!)
Bitty would like to thank Miss Dee and Mr. Paul for having the whole family over to watch the Super Bowl (on their cool HDTV no less)! Bitty especially enjoyed the homemade pizza and pigs-in-a-blanket.
Mom and Dad would like to thank Miss Dee and Mr. Paul for wearing out Bitty Man ~ he fell asleep on the ride home and didn't wake up until this morning!
Bitty created a new game while Mama watched the State of the Union Address last night. The game is called, 'Uppie-Downey Clapping Game'. The title is self-explanatory!

Took Bitty to the pediatrician this morning to discover Bitty's chest cold is now so deep and 'wet' that he needed antibiotics. Poor guy has had a rough week... actually all three of us are battling this cold/bug thing so it's been a tiresome time for all.
But on a good note this week, Bitty is so proud of his newest accomplishment: Taking off and putting on pants by himself. As you can see from the picture, some tries are more successful than others... then again, Celine Dion wore a backwards tux to the Oscars. Maybe Bitty is just fashion-forward in his thinking (if not his dressing)?
Send up some prayers and well wishes for Bitty. He's been miserable this week as his 2-year molars come in. Feverish, crying in his sleep, and now the pressure from the top teeth is causing his sinus' to drain ~ thus a runny nose, coughing and a bit of a sore throat: "Mama, I've got paper in my throat... get it out!"
1) Bitty will not go to sleep with blankets or covers on.
2) Bitty loves watching Food Network ~ especially Iron Chef.
3) Bitty got his lower 2-year molars... 2 weeks ago. He still doesn't have his top 2-year molars.
4) Bitty's newest favorite snack food is dried mangos.
5) Bitty has a real fear of smoke alarms.
6) Bitty has a birthmark on the back of his arm ~ Mama has a similar birthmark on her wrist.
7) Bitty has mastered the first level in 3-D Labyrinth (computer game).
8) Bitty can operate Tivo.
9) Bitty's favorite quiet spot is in Mommy & Daddy's walk-in closet, where he is often found 'reading' books.
10) Bitty loves Chinese food.
I think the primary reason for the Skins loss today was that Bitty slept through most of the game. He had been awake for every one of our last 6 wins ~ so somehow his nap caused the 'Skins offense to stall and our kicker, John 'I'm about to be cut' Hall, to miss a 36 yard field goal in the 4th quarter.
But on a brighter note, Bitty has a new girlfriend. Move over, Princess Ada. Miss Kerry (a dancer on the Carnival Fantasy when Mama and Daddy worked there) came to Vegas this past week. She immediately won Bitty's heart, in spite of her 'funny words'. (Miss Kerry is from England.)
HAIL REDSKINS! Someday Bitty will appreciate that his first Skins game was during a season where the Skins had to win 5 in a row to make the playoffs, THEN go into Tampa for Wild Card Weekend where they would win their 6th game in a row! But today Bitty was a bit, shall we say, startled when Mama went NUTS after the Bucs threw an interception during their last ditch effort to beat the Skins. Poor Bitty didn't know what to make of Mama's jubilant screams and he almost broke down into tears. But he soon recovered with a rousing chorus of 'Hail to the Redskins' with Mama for all the neighbors to hear!

Christmas came early for Mama in the form of a trip to Phoenix to see her first Redskins game. As with most Arizona games, the stadium had more opposing team's fans than Cardinals fans. (How depressing must it be to play for the Cardinals and get boo'ed when you take the field at a home game?) Bitty had a blast cheering every down and entertaining the crowd with his rendition of the Redskins fight song. (And he knows all the words, unlike even most die-hard 'Skins fans!) He especially loved the soda, popcorn and pretzels which kept him occupied during the second half. Best of all, the Redskins won 17-13, giving new meaning to the phrase 'Merry Christmas' for Mama!
